CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964

Core duties

  • Rule 3: every government servant shall maintain absolute integrity, devotion to duty and do nothing unbecoming.
  • Rule 4: no misuse of position to secure employment for family members.
  • Rule 9: no unauthorised communication of official information.
  • Rule 13: restrictions on acceptance of gifts beyond prescribed limits.
  • Rule 16: no speculation in stocks or shares; Rule 18: declaration of immovable property.

Prohibitions

  • No participation in politics or elections; no demonstration or strike.
  • No private trade or employment without sanction.
  • Bigamous marriage is prohibited; second marriage needs government permission.
  • Consumption of intoxicating drinks in public place while on duty is prohibited.
